Jessica Renee McNicholas

Hi there!

I am a writer, a wife, a bestie, a tia, a mother, a
daughter, a reader, and most importantly: the
girl who dreams about having her books on your
shelves one day!

I’m a 26 year old Mexican American with a love
for my family, Asian food, anime, Bookstagram,
and all things “Romantasy.”

I write YA and New Adult fantasy novels that I
hope to share with you one day soon! I also have
a passion for poetry and discussing topics that
matter to the human heart. I hope together we
can fall more in love with literature and fictional
worlds!

My name is Jessica.

There’s nothing more valuable than community! Together we can dream,
build culture, speak truth, write stories, and share passions! We can join in on
laughs, DM each other memes, and connect with people across the globe
through sharing interests and ideas. Let’s connect on social platforms and
contunue building community!

Daughter of Creation

I wrote Rayne’s story for others like me,
who felt the need to disprove statistics by
chasing after achievements instead of
considering life’s passions. Daughter of
Creation explores the beauty of living the
life you were meant for instead of living to
prove yourself to others.

Daughter of Creation

Daughter of Creation is a 98k word
Young Adult Fantasy novel where
you’ll meet Rayne Everson, 17 year old
high school senior who believes she
has it all figured out. When she ends
up in a magical realm, Illuzio, she
discovers that everything she
planned for her life was never meant
for her.

In this adventurous, tale of family,
love, and self-discovery you’ll find
tropes such as reluctant hero,
enemies to lovers, and found family.

Title: Wake Up

Genre: Poetry

Word Count: 2.5k

Status: Now available for purchase

Wake up is framed by the human experience in its relation to
creation, purpose, and the institution of Christian religion in the
West. These poems wrestle with how The Church was created
to be the Bride of Christ, but instead has been left abused and
broken by the people within it. How can we see humanity wrestle
with hurt and suffering and still create a legalistic system that
separates the “underserving” from the “holy”? These poems
drive readers to get honest about the human condition in
relation to creation, their ability to be loved, and to also love
others well.

Wake Up

This book is a collection that walks
through the journey of understanding
the God of the Bible, and not just the
God that is presented by Western
culture. The voice doesn’t just speak
to my personal experience, but to a
backdrop of big questions about
deconstruction of faith, the human
origins, the current standing of the
American Church, and how healing
the inner workings of the soul is
crucial to existence.

“Whenever you are fed up with life, start writing: ink is the great cure for all human ills, as I have found out long ago.”

- C.S. Lewis

“Wake up, O
sleeper,

Rise from the
dead.”

I opened my eyes,

And my heart was
beating,

And I could finally
breathe.

-Jessica Renee McNicholas

“Let the world burn through you. Throw the prism light, white hot, on paper.”

- Ray Bradbury
