Hi there!

Jessica McNicholas is an author, wife, bestie, tia,

dreaming about her favorite characters.

Kade Vasher

She planned a future. Fate planned a kingdom.

High school senior Rayne Everson is the perfect daughter and
student. With college just around the corner, the picture-perfect life
she’s carefully built is finally within reach. As long as she keeps
ignoring the eerie sixth sense that warns her when something’s about
to go wrong, she can pretend everything is under control. She’s
checked every box to secure the future she’s always wanted, until the
day she realizes that future was never meant for her.

When Rayne’s strange feelings pull her into an impossible encounter,
gone are the Texas sunsets and college dreams. In their place stands
Korum Kingdom, a new world of magic, corruption, and chaos.

There, she learns she’s the only heir to a tyrannical king who tore her
from her home to marry her off to a prince bent on destruction.
Ordered to train for her role under the king’s most trusted man, the
infuriatingly handsome Captain General Kade Vasher, Rayne becomes
desperate to understand the life she was born into but never knew
about.

Torn between duty and defiance, and caught between a dangerous
attraction and the weight of a crown, Rayne begins to question
everything she believed about love, strength, and destiny.

Wake up is framed by the human experience in its
relation to creation, purpose, and the institution of
Christian religion in the West. These poems wrestle
with how The Church was created to be the Bride of
Christ, but instead has been left abused and broken
by the people within it. How can we see humanity
wrestle with hurt and suffering and still create a
legalistic system that separates the “underserving”
from the “holy”? These poems drive readers to get
honest about the human condition in relation to
creation, their ability to be loved, and to also love
others well.

Wake up

Wake Up

This collection of poems walks
through the journey of understanding
the God of the Bible, and not just the
God that is presented by Western
culture. The voice doesn’t just speak
to my personal experience, but to a
backdrop of big questions about
deconstruction of faith, the human
origins, the current standing of the
American Church, and how healing
the inner workings of the soul is
crucial to existence.
